When Leonie and her husband retired in 1999, they moved to Vermont, Hermanus, and Leonie started painting seriously.
She took up art classes (watercolour and acrylic) by the well known artist Peter Earl and had her first exhibition as a student of Peter Earl at his Bygones studio and Art School in Nov. 2002.
She also got a contract with MAGICAL AFRICA, Village Square, where she mainly sells her paintings to German, Dutch and French tourists.
Leonie also attended Dale Elliot’s intensive courses in Villiersdorp and studied at the Shirley Adams Art Center in Hermanus.

Leonie’s versatility is to be seen in her paintings, where she uses
watercolours, acrylics and oils.
She is painting flowers, still life, people, wild life, sea- & landscapes, street scenes and everything beautiful in Hermanus and the Overberg.
Recently she also discovered a love for abstract paintings.
